We're Protect & Assist, a Houston-based company building call protection and everyday care tools for older adults and the families who look out for them.
A parent still needs to answer the phone. Doctors, pharmacies, and people they care about call from numbers they may not recognize. But so do people who pressure them for money or personal information.
Our founder, Trevor Shuman, saw those calls reach his own family across generations. Protect & Assist grew from a simple purpose: help older adults stay independent while giving their families practical ways to look out for them.
We ask unknown callers who they're calling and why, then let your loved one choose whether to connect. Monitoring at the start of calls we connect can flag scam language; an enabled hang-up rule can end a call assessed as unsafe.
“There is so much to keep track of.”
Medication reminders, appointments, calls, and care details can add up quickly. Our reminder calls, shared care plan, and family dashboard help keep those details together.
Family members can see call activity and follow up when a reminder isn't confirmed.
“I want to help, even when I'm not there.”
Shared call history, alerts, and care information help families stay involved from a distance. Your loved one keeps a voice in their day, and you have more context when you check in.
Why we made this check free
Working out how to pay for care adds another layer of worry. This tool gives families a place to start: possible assistance, a reason for each result, and paperwork they can take forward. Anyone can use it, whether or not they ever become a customer.

Explore our paid call protection and care services, plus current new-customer offers. The benefits check stays free.
Screening can make mistakes and may miss a harmful call or flag a legitimate one. Reminders can be missed and are not medical care. Protect & Assist is not an emergency service.
Good help is worth sharing

Yes. The check, your results, printable worksheets, and application links are free. You don't need an account or a paid Protect & Assist plan to use them.
What happens to my answers?
The check runs in your browser. Answers are kept in this tab so you can continue if you refresh. They aren't sent to us by the assessment. You can clear them from your results. Saving to an account is a separate choice.
Does a result mean we qualify?
Results point you toward programs worth exploring based on your answers. They aren't an approval or a promise of payment. Each program's agency checks your full circumstances and makes the decision.
What does the paid service add?
Protect & Assist's paid plans provide call screening, monitoring at the start of connected calls, care reminders, and a family dashboard. Compare plans and see current offers. Buying a plan doesn't change your benefits eligibility.
